S.T.E.A.M.
This term in Kauri hub, Kauri hub students have been learning about S.T.E.A.M. This means Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
Kauri hub completed a S.T.E.A.M. rotation where they completed challenges about how to use Spheros, a 3D Printer and a Makey Makey as well as how to create fastest ramp.
In the hub, there were some white roses in different coloured water to see how the petals changed colour with the more water they drink.
Today Mrs Thompson came in and showed the hub how to create batteries using lemons using the Makey Makey and positive and negative charges through different types of nails.

Relating to others
Kauri hub has been working hard to build as one very large team!
We finished Term 2 with a team building day where we got to know different students and the teachers through a variety of games and activities.
This term we have been learning with different teachers and our ako whanau "learning family" groups. Students are worked hard to learn and relate to different students than they would normally pick to learn with. The teachers are very proud of the students!

Welcome to Term 2!
Hope you all had a great first week back.
I have had such a welcoming first week as a part of Kauri hub.
As a hub, we have started discussing plans and ideas for the variety show. This variety show will be an important fundraiser towards camp and allow the class to present some of our learning about the arts and collaboration.
Today we had an extremely interesting lesson with Mrs G about our digital footprints and what information we should and shouldn't share. The class was very interested to learn that Facebook had allowed user's information to be used by other companies. As a part of this discussion I told the class I would share with them the age restrictions for different social media platforms to discuss with their families. Here it is:
